EMDR

If something disturbing has happened to you, you’re not doomed forever.

Throughout my years as a counselor, I’ve met a lot of people who believe themselves to be permanently “messed up.” They were sure that the things that happened to them were just too big to move past or would take “years and years of therapy” to work out.

Not so! Like your body, your mind can heal – and you can experience relief.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that helps people recover from the effects of past traumatic or otherwise upsetting events. It uses an eight-phase treatment, including eye and other bilateral movements to process memories and feelings, and transform their significance and meaning.

Many studies have found that EMDR can reduce or resolve Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder relatively quickly. It is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma by the American Psychiatric Association, World Health Organization, and Department of Defense.

You might think, “Whoa! I’m not a combat veteran, nothing that bad happened to me!” You don’t have to identify as “traumatized” for EMDR to be helpful. It can also help you resolve the memories and experiences that fuel depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.

Let me help you find your way.
